This piece was based on the idea of a mouse with a sophisticated taste in cheese who lives in a quaint cottage. The piece was made with balsa wood, Sculpey, and needle felting. Scroll further to see videos of the process, and check out my TikTok, @sklotzerart to see more of my art process videos!
Mouse Process
Check out the process of making the mouse on the left. First I built a simple wire armature, then needle felted the mouse. This process allowed me to move the mouse’s arms, legs, and tail so I could position him in different ways.
House Process
Next, I built the house by starting with a cardboard base. I cut pieces of balsa wood to fit all around the sides, interior, and roof of the house. Next I painted it, and then created all the decorations out of sculpey.
